Foods That Fight Cancer

Cancer cells are often formed by damage done to DNA inside cells by free radicals, which can create cancerous cells and tumors. However, cancer can be fought by the foods you eat. Foods that are high in antioxidants and other phytonutrients can help to prevent cancer cells from forming or existing cancer cells from spreading. Add the following foods into your regular diet to begin experiencing all the cancer fighting benefits they offer.

    Beans

  1. Beans are very easy to add into your diet, and they are some of the best cancer fighters out there. One of the compounds in beans, protease, helps to inhibit or slow the division of cancer cells, while the phytic acid in beans helps to limit the growth of tumors.
  2. Tomatoes

  3. The most powerful antioxidant in tomatoes is lycopene, the same compound that gives tomatoes their red color. Lycopene tends to concentrate in the prostate, helping to battle cancer that may form there.
  4. Grapes

  5. Red and purple grapes, more so than green grapes, have a high concentration of resveratrol. This phytonutrient has been known to stop the growth of cancer cells and tumors in the breast, stomach and lymph nodes.
  6. Garlic

  7. Garlic is easily added to most meals, making it a convenient way to get a healthy dose of antioxidants. Those found in garlic have been known to inhibit the growth of tumors specifically in the stomach, colon, lung, breast and esophagus.
  8. Flaxseed

  9. Flaxseed is high in fiber and also in lignans, which have cancer-fighting abilities. Lignans help protect against skin, colon and breast cancers in particular.
